Take advantage of a complimentary dev ops workshop with IBM – to help you better understand how new technology can help you transform and modernize your Db2 for z/OS applications. Businesses need to deliver faster and more frequently than ever before. In response to these competitive pressures, development organizations are adopting dev ops practices - agile software development, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery. These practices focus on delivering smaller, more frequent changes, more rapidly. A key foundation to achieve successful implementation is automating the application deployment process, and reducing the overhead and bottlenecks in the application deployment process, while still providing control and change approval for your Db2 for z/OS databases This session also covers, Zowe. The first open source project on z/OS.  Zowe is an extensible framework for connecting application and tools to mainframe data and applications.  One of the goals of Zowe is to make the mainframe an integrated and agile platform within the changing IT architectural landscape. This workshop is for everybody who wants to get up to speed with the latest technology that is helping mainframe professionals (database administrators, release engineers, architects, etc.) experience ways to modernize their existing Db2 for z/OS development practices.

Objectives:

  • Learn about open source languages and tools for mainframe
  • Experience the Zowe open source framework
  • Learn how an application developer can do self-service schema provisioning
  • Understand how to automate the schema change approval process with enforcement of business rules and naming conventions
  • Learn how Db2 for z/OS applications can participate in Continuous Delivery / Continuous Integration (CI/CD) automated pipelines
