Session 8 Bufferpools: PGSTEAL(NONE) and Contiguous Bufferpool in Db2 12
Abstract: This session will introduce and discuss the PGSTEAL NONE bufferpool option that existed prior to Db2 12, and the enhancement in Db2 12 to turn it into a contiguous bufferpool to reduce bufferpool management overheads to improve performance. A recap will be provided on PGSTEAL NONE and contiguous bufferpool. The following topics will be discussed: challenge related to performance scalability as bufferpool size increases, and issues related to: 2G size frames, pointer-overflow pairs and REORG. Recommendations will be provide on mitigating actions and best practice.
