Using Larger Real Memory Size with DB2 for z/OS to reduce CPU - 18th July 2017

11AM - 12:00 EDT

4PM -   5PM BST

Introduce and discuss the value of using larger real memory size to improve performance, how to design to run safely, and how to exploit the following features to reduce CPU resource consumption: thread reuse, thread reuse with BIND option RELEASE(DEALLOCATE), index fast traverse blocks, large size page frames, long term bufferpool page fix, larger size local and group bufferpool, continuous bufferpools, and larger size global and dynamic statement cache.

John is an IBM Distinguished Engineer reporting to the Director for z/OS Development at the IBM Silicon Valley Lab. He has extensive experience of DB2 in terms of systems, database and applications design. He specializes in design for high performance and data sharing. He is one of IBM's foremost authorities for implementing high end database / transaction processing applications.
